Claire Marcus Bernstein, PhD
Dr. Bernstein received her PhD in Audiology from Columbia University. Her clinical, teaching, and research work focuses on rehabilitation with adult cochlear implant users and older adults with hearing loss. She is currently a Co-Principal Investigator with the Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center on Technology for People who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH-RERC) at Gallaudet University.
Dr. Bernstein and Professor Emerita Diane Brewer direct a series of multi-site randomized controlled studies evaluating rehabilitation training to improve outcomes for adult CI users. She is a Past President and Board Member of the American Academy of Rehabilitative Audiology (ARA) and was an invited keynote speaker at the American Cochlear Implant Alliance Conference in Washington, DC, leading a forum on aural rehabilitation from research to clinical practice.
Diane Majerus Brewer, PhD
Dr. Brewer is a Professor Emerita at George Washington University. Her clinical, teaching, and research work focused on adult aural rehabilitation. She is a Co-Principal Investigator, alongside Dr. Bernstein, on randomized controlled studies examining outcomes of aural rehabilitation protocols for older adult CI users.
This work is supported by the DHH-RERC at Gallaudet University and funded by NIDILRR. Dr. Brewer is a former President of the District of Columbia Speech Hearing Association, served on the DC Audiology Licensure Board, and is a Fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
