ARA Institute 2008 - Call for Papers

Come and share your research, case studies or programs at the ARA Institute 2008 in Portland, Oregon. We want submissions from all areas of audiologic/aural (re)habilitation.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: June 30th 2008 (notification by July 15th)

  • Proposals are welcome from individuals or organizations on auditory rehabilitation, basic or clinical research, case studies, novel/innovative (re)habilitative approaches, counseling, reimbursement issues, etc.

  • To align with our keynote address, we would especially like to receive submissions addressing auditory training to enhance rehabilitation.

  • We encourage doctoral-level students in Audiology, Hearing Science, Speech Language Pathology, Education of the Deaf or related fields, and post-doctoral or mentored research programs to participate in this meeting. The ARA Institute provides a unique opportunity to get input from peers and mentors in a multidisciplinary, un-intimidating, friendly environment.

  • There will be podium presentations of 30-minutes each on Thursday and Friday, and a poster session on Thursday evening during an informal pizza dinner at a local restaurant.

Please provide a summary up to 500 words describing your presentation, along with a 50-100 abstract, three learner outcomes and 50-word biography of the first author for publication in the Institute program. Click here for online submission of abstracts.

This year’s ARA Institute will take place in Portland, Oregon. Portland has been called North America's "Best Big City," by Money magazine. You’ll be able to admire the natural beauty of the great Northwest, check out some funky neighborhoods, shop at local artisan stores, visit the clean and safe downtown area using our excellent public transport system, and enjoy eating at locally-owned cafes and restaurants.

The Academy of Rehabilitative Audiology (ARA) is a multidisciplinary organization composed of individuals whose professional work is dedicated to fostering and stimulating education, research and interest in audiologic habilitative and rehabilitative components of hearing care. The primary purpose of ARA is to promote excellence in hearing care through the provision of comprehensive rehabilitative and habilitative services.
